Who is Grasp Studio?
I have always loved photography. I got my first camera when I was 12 years old and have taken well over 75 thousand pictures in the last 17 years. After I graduated from college and started working in the business world, my creative side really struggled to break free and photography was my release.
When I met my husband David in 2001, I was pleasantly surprised that he was even more advanced than I was in photography and even had his own darkroom in high school. We started sharing our equipment and taking pictures together.
I have always been interested in capturing things differently, as has David. Our styles are unique but compliment each other well. There is always a place for the formal side, but the candid moments are what really cultivate memories. We find this to be especially true with children. Over the last few years, our friends all started to have babies and the pictures they brought home from the studios looked like just that – studio prints. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but we started offering to take pictures of children in their environment that really captured their personalities and genuine smiles. We were amazed by how easy it was to take pictures of even the youngest babies in their homes.
Over the last 7 years we have been studying photography, taking classes, working on our skills and improving our equipment. We have volunteered to take pictures of friends’ children, pregnant bellies, weddings, etc. And, since both sides of our families are larger than the typical studio can accommodate, we started taking our annual family pictures as well. Our love of photography has continued to grow as have our abilities, and with that we decided to start Grasp Studio.
Whether you are celebrating your engagement, pregnancy, or wedding, or are just looking for pictures of your family or children, our desire is to work with you to capture your memories and preserve the important moments of your life. We hope you’ll give us the opportunity to work with you and do just that.
